How Breeding Path Search Works

Core Breeding Rules

In Palworld, offspring are determined by averaging both parents' breeding ranks and finding the Pal whose value is closest to that average. Unique combos — predefined parent pairs — always override the formula and produce a fixed Pal regardless of breeding rank. This tool automatically finds the shortest chain of breeding steps from your owned Pals to any target, searching up to 3 generations deep.

How to use the breeding path finder and how it searches

How to use it

  1. Add the Pals you own to your list. The list is stored only in this browser and never sent to the site.
  2. Pick the Pal you want as the target.
  3. The tool shows the route from your Pals to the target in the fewest generations, with the pair to breed at each step.

How the search works

It uses the same breeding rules and the same code as the breeding calculator: unique combinations, same-species breeding and the breeding rank calculation.

The search grows one generation at a time. Generation 1 is what your own Pals can produce together; from generation 2 on, a Pal new in the previous generation is paired with any Pal known so far. Because it goes generation by generation, the first route found is the shortest, and it searches up to 3 generations.

The game data has no published passive inheritance rates, so the tool uses a community estimate table: 40% for 1 wanted passive, 30% for 2, 20% for 3 and 10% for 4. If the parents carry other passives too, the real chance is lower.

Search example

If you own only Lamball and Cattiva, generation 1 gives Tanzee.

In generation 2, the new Tanzee paired with Lamball gives Clovee, and paired with Cattiva gives Woolipop. The finder keeps widening the search one generation at a time like this until it reaches the target.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my list stored?
Only in this browser's storage (localStorage). It is never sent to the site operator, and clearing your browser data removes it.
How is this different from the breeding calculator?
The calculator shows one result for two parents. The path finder repeats that calculation over several generations to find the order that reaches your target.

FAQ

Is a Cake required for breeding?
Yes — one Cake must be in the supply crate before breeding can begin. Cake is crafted from Flour, Berries, Milk, Eggs, and Honey. Keeping ranch Pals that produce these ingredients makes the process self-sustaining.
What are the breeding farm requirements?
Place a male and a female Pal in the same Breeding Farm and stock the supply crate with a Cake. They will lay an Egg automatically, which you then place in an Incubator to hatch your target Pal.
Can I specify which parent is male or female?
For standard combos, swapping the male and female parents does not change the offspring. Some unique combos, however, require one specific parent to be a set gender, so always check the gender badge shown in the path result before setting up your ranch.
