How to use the breeding calculator and how it works
How to use it
- Pick one Pal in each parent slot and the child appears right away. Swapping the parents gives the same child.
- Or pick the child you want and the calculator lists every parent pair that produces it.
- If you cannot make it from the Pals you own, the breeding path finder works out how many generations it takes.
How the result is computed
The game data gives every Pal a breeding rank (CombiRank) and also has a table of unique combinations. The calculator applies them in this order.
First, if the parent pair is in the unique combination table, the child listed there is born. Combinations with a gender condition apply only with those genders.
Second, two parents of the same species produce that species.
Third, otherwise the two breeding ranks are added, plus 1, divided by 2 and rounded down to get a target. The Pal whose breeding rank is closest to the target is born; on a tie within the same rank, the one with the lower duplicate priority value in the game data wins.
Pals that only come from unique combinations, and Pals the game data excludes from normal breeding, are never candidates in the third step.
Worked example
With Lamball (breeding rank 3050) and Cattiva (breeding rank 2760) as parents, the target is (3050 + 2760 + 1) / 2 rounded down, which is 2905. The candidate closest to 2905 is Tanzee (breeding rank 2900), so the calculator shows Tanzee.
As a unique combination example, Relaxaurus with Sparkit always produces Relaxaurus Lux, regardless of the rank calculation.
Frequently asked questions
- Can the result differ from the game?
- Breeding ranks and unique combinations come straight from the game data. When the game is patched we extract the data again, so a difference can appear only between a patch and our update.
- Does it calculate passive inheritance?
- The breeding calculator only works out which Pal is born. The game data has no passive inheritance rates, so the breeding path finder shows community estimates instead.
How Breeding Calculation Works
Each Pal has a hidden stat called breeding rank. When two Pals breed, the game averages their breeding ranks and produces the Pal whose value is closest to that average. There are currently 258 unique combos — predefined parent pairs that bypass the formula entirely and always produce a specific Pal. Because unique combos can override expected results, using this calculator before investing in a breeding chain is essential for efficient Pal farming.
FAQ
- What is breeding rank?
- Breeding rank is a numeric stat assigned to every Pal. The offspring is whichever Pal has the breeding rank closest to the average of both parents' values. Lower breeding rank generally means rarer Pals; higher values correspond to more common ones.
- What is a unique combo?
- A unique combo is a fixed rule that ignores the breeding rank formula. When two parents match a predefined pair, the game always produces the specified Pal. There are 258 unique combos in the current game, and some Pals can only be obtained this way.
- What happens when I breed the same species?
- Pairing a Pal with another of the same species always produces an offspring of that same species. This is useful for stacking passives or preserving desirable traits across generations.
